Sorry I've been late to chime in on this; I've been swamped and am just now catching up on some of the List email. To clear up some matters, the gray water tank Bob got is the same one that Frank Condelli is referring to, the one sold by vwbusshoppe. It is an OEM German tank designed specifically for the Vanagon. The brackets that we sell are also the same ones as well, and are meant for that tank. Trevor and Cheri referred Bob to us for when he was looking for a tank, which is probably what caused the misconception that they supplied the tank. I brought in a tank from vwbusshoppe for Bob, and brought in a couple of extras while I was at it. It is the one on our website for $144. I'd have to check, but I believe we sold the extras (Of course I could order more if needed, or for that matter anything on vwbusshoppe.de.) The tank is not listed by the manufacturer as requiring modification on vans with A/C, but then again air conditioned vans are rather rare in Germany. I trust Bob's feedback since he has first-hand experience with it. In fact I will update our listing to note that issue when I have a spare moment. As for clearance, it tucks pretty well under the van. It's a couple of inches lower that the propane tank (but significantly higher than the mud flap). It is so close to the tire that it would be hard to hit something with it unless your tire were deflated, as the tire would lift the Vanagon up over the obstacle at that point anyway. I personally wouldn't worry much about clearance unless you have a Syncro and do a lot of offroading. Hope this clears things up. - Ron Salmon The Bus Depot, Inc. www.busdepot.com (215) 234-VWVW _____________________________________________ Toll-Free for Orders by PART # : 1-866-BUS-DEPOT |
