You're right, it does improve ventilation, and I've used it for that, mainly when stopped, not when driving. But in three years of owning the camper, I've had to replace the seal twice, and now a third time. This time, I was unable to get it to stop leaking until I got an oversized gasket from a trim shop. The thing is a pain.
