re Manual window on the drivers side & a power window on the passenger side. "

I've been thinking that for 30 years ! you only need power windows on the passenger's side to roll that window up and down, like in warm weather.

Some Vanagons have a door light switch on the sliding door, and some don't. You can see the spot for the button ..but often it's not there.

I put a dash mounted map reading light on a flexible stalk on all my keeper Vanagons... totally handy at night. I like soft read floor area lighting too ...especially between the front seats ..that area.

Someone mentioned they don't have much use for a skylight in a Westy. I find that evenutally any opening with moving parts like that will leak or break. what I do is put in a quarter inch thick piece of Bronze-gold color Plexiglass. and seal it well to the westy top. No moving parts .........doesn't let in 'too much' sun as a clear one would ... works great. Have done it two or three times .. always pleased with the affect and the results.

oh ..central locking.. now that is a handy thing .. major pain to unlock all 5 doors for full access .. then lock all 5 again to park it secured. I gather it's not that reliable though. My 87 Wolfsburg has central locking ..heck I got it with the actuator removed on the front passenger's door ..and the door permanently locked....that was fun to access after removing the seat and the door panel with door locked.. I just installed a manual latch mechansim out of one of my parts vans for the time being .. one of these days ....might get the central Locking working ....I've seen many late vans with dodgey central locking too.

Whatever Volvo did on my 88 740 Turbo Sedan they did right .. as the Central Locking on that 24 year old car has never messed up once. maybe volvo actuators in a Vanagon ..I'll have to look into that. scott www.turbovans.com
