Fluid friction in the torque converter gets it pretty hot pretty quick,
faster than the engine coolant heats up, I'd say. Kind of a moot point,
though. The factory heat exchanger cooler is plumbed in parallel with the
radiator, so it really only sees coolant flow when the thermostat opens, by
which time the transmission fluid has probably already warmed itself up.
