I am finally giving up and decomissioning my 1991 Jetta ECOdiesel. You just can't get the necessary parts to fix the finicky belt system anymore, and it needs a lot more stuff even if you could. Beside, I have a nice diesel vanagon that's turbo-ready from a previous installation. My main question is about the turbo stuff. Are the injectors on an ECOdiesel regular 255 bar TD injectors? I'm not going to use the ECOdeisel pump; I have a nice rebuilt Quantum pump. What about the exhaust? Can I use all that on a Vanagon? Anything different to do with the intake? Looks OK but have not actually had it out. What about the little turbo? Any mods that need to be done to that? How do you get those metal clips off that connect the manifold to the exhaust system? I presume with a hammer, but am asking. And, finally, since I have never pulled the engine on a Jetta, any tricks of the trade or favorite best practices on that? I have an EGT already installed from another TD years ago. Any recommendations on a boost gauge? Thanks, Jim |
