I guess it's that time of year when the Sun starts to shine and talk turns to A/C for the Vanagon.  

Soon we'll be discussing the merits of R-12 v. R-134, expected high-side pressure, leaking hoses and vent temps.  

Someone will mention that they have to "top off" their A/C each year and several people will wag a virtual finger at them for being environmentally irresponsible.

The ozone layer will be referenced at least twice, as will green house gases and global warming.  Someone will chime in and say global warming is a lie.

Pleas for in-dash A/C systems will be posted and met (BenT probably has 10!).  Methods for getting the cool air from the back of a Westy to the front will be discussed.

At least one reference to adding A/C to a Doka will popup.

Several threads with people whinging about who has the worst Summer weather will occur.

There will be at least 10 references to how much better the A/C works because "I have a Subaru/Bostig/TDi conversion."

There will be one long thread that delves into the minutiae of how the A/C system works and will include in-depth analysis of chemical compounds and properties of materials.

Someone in Seattle will say how glad they are that they do not need A/C.  Two days later, Seattle will be hit with 90+ temps.

A few threads will start about the VW recall on the overhead A/C vents and how the dealer should still fix it.  This thread will migrate to "how to fix the overhead vents yourself".  But the subject line won't change.


And many, many more...


For me... I just roll the window down.
