Perhaps it is a safety feature.
The burning brake fluid would melt the reservoir, spilling flaming brake
fluid on your legs and lap, providing an incentive for you to hurry up
and exit the vehicle.
I agree, if you are in an accident that results in your brake fluid
catching fire, that is probably the least of your worries.
