Have my 83.5 Riviera Dash (but that part's normal Vanagon L) apart and have replaced my front blower motor and heater core. I replaced all my flaps material and cleaned everything. Anyhow NONE of my hoses are metal. The two that go to the top of the dash on each end are actually cardboard (I was shocked), the two bigger ones are plastic. They sure didn't give even 1/2" extra. So do the newer (relative) Vanagons have metal hoses? Also re the "armour". I have a Riviera and thus my closets (on both sides) are different. On the driver's side I have 2 doors and they are a PITA. Sure would like to have that slider and some shelves. My window inside the closet is a removable wood insert with two wing nuts holding it on. I really like that feature. Alas I couldn't do the modification to the armour as I can't screw nor saw straight
