The 'standard' IMI gear reduction starter will work. I ran one in my 85 Adventurewagon for a while. On a trip it got to where it would only work with a whack on it with a hammer...after an 6 hour hard run.

I took it apart...totally new inside .. showed it to my electrical rebuilder . he said he thought it needed a good hot shot of juice to the trigger terminal.. and indeed, I sometimes put a heavy duty generic starter button on .. ( nice spot there right above the light swtich ..) haven't tried it yet .. but I suspect hope that would make my new IMI gear reduction starter work every time.
