If you have time and don't mind the slower route, Glen Canyon on 70/50 in Colorado is a "must see" drive. It is gorgeous. Lake Tahoe, also along Hwy 50 is beautiful too. Not sure how far out of your way you want to go but Bryce Canon and the like are a bit of a swing south on your way but well worth it.
