IMO, those cylinders, while handy, are like POTENTIAL little hazards. And try recycling them. PITA. Here anyway. I had one, ONE mind you, that ended up with a hinky valve. I think it's possible for a given bus camper to carry more than one in their rig at a given time. The one currently sitting in the back of my Westy is fine and will likely stay fine. But...... Question: if one uses these cylinders often (screw appliance on, off, repeat) is there more risk that the valve will eventually not quite reseat when appliance removed from cylinder? (picture a propane camping light) Personally if I purchased a second Vanagon (back up camper, DD) w/o a propane system, when camping I'd cook over a fire, or use a one burner liquid fuelled stove. The numbers are quite likely VERY low on failure rate of the valve in those little cylinders but this is how I'd choose to roll. Neil.
