Are these strong enough to work without the cable/spring assist? Mine are broken and this doesn't look like an easy fix. -----Original Message----- From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com] On Behalf Of Alistair Bell Sent: Saturday, May 05, 2012 7:27 PM To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: Re: Poptop lift assist I agree. I've installed 5 sets now on various friends vans. Including the heavy duty struts (they are hard to compress with no pop top load). A big recommendation from me too. I did make my own home brewed version (http://shufti.wordpress.com/2011/07/12/vanagon-pop-top-assist-struts/) just because a friend gave me some ball end fittings and I had some old hatch struts. It worked out fine but it really was not worth the time and effort, better to buy JackBombay's kit. alistair
