Oh you can bet that we tinkered with, lubed, and tweaked the cables. After all, my main reason for digging into that spaghetti nightmare was to fix cables and flaps issues.

The one good thing I can say about getting that pesky heater box out is that it gives a fellow the chance to get the cables properly adjusted.
