I've never-ever considered that anyone would actually use it this way. Seems really unsafe. In my case I'd worry about things flying out the back if it ever came loose. Might as well drive with the sliding door open as well... Maybe I'm too cautious but I just don't think I'd ever to that. And I don't think it was what the builders intention. I always thought it was for stationary use only.....
