All that is meant by the enthusiastic blurt about the "new 31" is that some knuckehead van owner in the clutches of some insane obsession has actually has proven that the 31 can fit, thus clearing the way for more dopy van owners to follow suit and spread 31'dom forever wide and far in Vanagonland as a drivers' side underseat solution possibility..... "new 31" as being new to that location for these vans because it has been "discovered".

I don't think anyone who lacks the time to do the mod well should do it, nor do I think Group 31 should go into anything but campers that are used far off the beaten track and are really trying to get the last ounce of amp hours out of their batteries.

That said, owners of Norcold and other 12V-only (non-propane) refrigerators are probably a perfect group to go to 31s.

In fact, I will look next to see if I can stuff a couple of 31s in front and above the steering rack area (where the spare time was) to see if I can support more use of the AC while we are sleeping out in the summertime with the engine off.

Nobody should install a group 31 battery under the drivers seat unless they absolutely have to have it, so I think the safest thing is to advise against the installation, and then if somebody does it anyway, you will know they really wanted it.
