I would love to have something like this;

http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/3/HouseHome/SafetySecurity/CarbonMonoxideDetectors/PRDOVR~0460308P/Multi-Gas+Detector.jsp?locale=en

but obviously not one that has to be plugged in. Has anyone got any recommendations? Courtney>> I have a DC CO monitor and a DC Ionized Smoke detector between my 2 closet doors at the top. I'm looking for a propane DC to mount low near floor level. Had a Fireman's opinion and inspection. PS I can't see them being effectively/safely combined as CO rises and propane falls. <re propane tanks> I'm not yet familiar with my underneath propane tank yet as I always cook outdoors. I've just bought a 4.9 lb refillable propane tank (they are way expensive but pay for themselve in no time). I had one on my last sail boat and stored it in the fore anchor locker which was sealed and vented outside low. When I'm travelling I don't think the sun's heat will be a factor and will be carrying it in the top 1/3 of a Paulchen carriera (?sp) . I have used the disposable greenies but I too don't like that they are disposable and yet I'd never refill them. So the 4.9er will be my solution and will sit in a shaded spot when camp set up.

<rear hatch open while driving> As a retired RRT, I have to say ARE YOU CRAZY MAN?! The main thing about CO is that you don't know it's happening. NO NO NOOOO Please don't anyone think this is okay to do. Absolutely NO and I'll apologize now BUT I don't know how or why anyone would do this. I'm surprised you haven't been stopped by police, firemen, or ME!!!!
