Hard to say.

The new Westy engine is not "100%" up to snuff. Idle's lumpy, and during drive home, it had "normal" power (I had not yet driven a 2.1), then once or twice, not so much. Like going up my driveway it bogged, but going up the "cut", (a fairly steep highway bit), it held 80 KPH in 3rd much like my I4. But. I get the feeling that it could've pulled more of that hill in 4th if engine working normally. Both my Westies have WBX 4 spds, the I4 with 195/75R14 and the WBX with Michelin LTX M&S 14" (can't recall specs)

The partially clogged cat, and COMPLETELY worn out muffler may were certainly affecting exhaust flow and possibly the O2 sensors ability to properly "sniff". Then again, who knows; the PS pressure sensor was disconnected. I doubt that had any affect. AFAIK, it only kicks in when steering turned hard right/left. Anyhow......

My initial impression is that there isn't a big difference overall though I'm sure the WBX has more torque down low. I'll have to get it ship shape before passing any concrete comment.
