access the wires behind the tail lights.

be aware there are two rear light systems in use .. what I call 'two filament' and '3 filament'.

our vanagons have 3 filaments.. tail, brake, and sepeate turn signals.

'meracun' cars and trailers often only have two .. tail, and brake and turn signal are shared.. when brakes are on, brake light to that side is replaced with a flashing light ..same bulb. , just a goofy strategy. ( and far less safe.. I am shocked that modern Jeeps and GM cars still have red turn signals.. Much harder to see than amber. and one brake light is lost when the turn signal is on.

they sell converter boxes .. so your 2 filament trailer can work with your 3 filament vanagon wiring.

on my trailer, I added motorcycle amber turn signals on flexible stalks ...........per stock motorcylce..works perfectly, and is safer.

It looks like I'll have to split into the wire bundle sheath to find and splice into the brake and turn signals. My trailer light kit has the little blue splice connectors and wire to run back to the black box. >> >> Suggestions are appreciated. >>
