I have used full synthetic in all my cars, regardless of the mileage, and have never had oil leaks because of it. I can't give you a source, but remember reading somewhere, maybe this list, that leaks in older engines caused by the new use of full synthetic is a myth, i.e. no factual basis. Hi all. Searched "Hypuron" in archives. Didn't get any hits. I don't know if the TBN and Low Ash aspects help a gas engine, but looking at "Oxidation Control & Shear Stability" here: http://www.castrol.com/castrol/genericarticle.do?categoryId=82915547&contentId=7025207 seems this might be a decent oil with a good price balance between 100% synthetic and conventional oil. Has/is anyone using this product? When introducing a synthetic blend oil to a an engine that's been running NON synthetic, is there a high risk that the new oil will cause seals to leak? My goal isn't to extend oil change intervals. Just want to provide better protection for bearings etc. Neil. -- Neil n 65 kb image Myford Ready For Assembly http://tinyurl.com/64sx4rp '88 Slate Blue Westy to be named.
