(Chris S: thanks for answering, I know this isn't as interesting a
subject as How To Remove Input Shaft Seal -- that job does not look easy
at all.)
I'm sure you're right about the function of the baffles.
The two side baffles and the underside deflector shown on 19.12 must
reduce hot air blown behind the rad by the fan from being sucked around
the sides of the rad, and back through the rad when the van isn't moving
(is my guess; at speed, they are probably not needed).
But I've got these two others Mystery Baffles that I think sat somewhere
between the headlights and the rad, but I can't figure out how they
mounted no matter how I orient them. They were flopping loose when we
pulled the rad.
They are rectangles, about 7-1/2'' x 10'', each has a corner cut off,
mine are kinda chewed up but I think each has six holes in it for screws
or buttons or something, and they are mirror images of each other. They
are the same material as the 19.12 deflectors, and the same vintage, so
they are OEM.
But I can't find them in Bentley. Nor are they part of alternate baffles
that are part of the "Hot Footwell Kit" shown on 19.20-22.
Anyone know where they live and how are they mounted?
