Europe has always been into small campers, er, caravans. We Americans, not so much. I'm still amazed at how many of my contemporaries (I'm 65) are lusting after big RVs. I guess if you live in it or have a large family including grandkids that you camp with it makes sense. But, I'm on my fourth VW camper, and my goal is for each of my kids to get one too! I'll probably pass my '85 down and get a '91! I've got it baaadddd!

Now if Sportsmobile would just go back to their roots and convert the Ford Transit LWB when it comes over . . .

Stuart

Sigh...my family had friends from England who came over to race International 14 dinghies (he was an orthopod and they later emigrated to New Zealand). They brought their T2 caravan with them and I instantly fell in love. They explained that in UK there was a tax on automobiles but not on caravans, so there were a number of companies that would do a minimum qualifying conversion for the price of the tax. So you could have whichever you wanted, same price. This would have been around '68-9.

Yours, David
