If you're going to replace the engine anyway why not do the upgrade. Ideally you should look for a complete engine from someone doing an engine conversion. This will allow you also use the later exhaust, larger throttle body, and with a little extra work the 2.1 cooling system. The 1.9 fuel injection and ignition will work on the 2.1 just fine. You can also consider using an external oil cooling solution instead of the 2.1. Using a shorter oil filter the 2.1 stock oil cooler can be used with the 1.9 exhaust.

I'm considering putting a 2.1 under the lid where my 1.9 currently resides. My question is what stuff is interchangeable, if any, or do I need to get things like all new exhaust and what about the cooling system, wiring harness etc. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Time is running out for my 1.9 and I would hate to have to deal a catastrophic breakdown on some highway, or lowway for that matter. TIA, Pablo 85 Westy
