I'll bet there are a lot of those sitting in garages, waiting for the vanagon owner to get the rest of the stuff.

you could build it all up yourself with Ford Focus ecu and harness etc..

the common way is to buy the 'whole kit' from Bostig ... harness is done ..new I believe.. everything is there ....think you need to buy a used PS pump ..but not much else beside the kit ... around $ 6K I read lately.

yeah, there is a LOT besides just the engine and the harness... like ...clutch , adapter system to the trans, engine mounting system .. exhaust system ..air filter system etc... there are quite a few elements to an engine conversion. the engine itself is just one part , of about 10 main areas.
