The road clearance issue I'm familiar with.  That's how our '93 Eurovan was
put out of its misery.  That's a story for another day though (stranded in
the the desert, block repairs with gum and candy, etc.)

But its death was well-deserved.  The $1300 vanagon that replaced it on the
spot thousands of miles from home was a much better vehicle from a
reliability standpoint.  (And this was 10 years ago, the Eurovan wasn't
even all that old.)  Our other option at the time was a junkyard engine
replacement.  I'm so glad we went with the vanagon.

The Eurovan is more modern, probably significantly safer, certainly
quieter.  But I think gowesty is wrong about reliability, at least with the
early years of them.  Of course, anecdotes are mostly worthless.  But I've
heard the same thing from other people.
