If you been following my thread I'm having a similar problem though mine is happening up at the filler neck area. If all goes well I'll be dropping the tank this Wed and replacing all the gaskets, etc, and putting in a "floaty ball" filler tube that does a better job of stopping the gas from traveling back up the tube.

I did a search on YouTube for videos on replacing the gas tank and sadly the only one there is one of mine, hahhahhaa. The one I did when I replaced the coolant lines. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JaMnLFA-USQ

I will probably film it again in more detail this Wed when I take it out.

Thanks, Bryan

Every time I fill up my 85 Vanagon, a relatively large amount of fuel leaks out. As best I tell not having gotten under the van, the leak appears to be at the conjunction of the filler tube and gas tank.
