I had a '97 with the VR-6 and auto. I think all from '97 on were automatics (unreliable automatics that couldn't be fixed reliably either). The Winnebago conversion is inferior to the Vanagon Westy. Fewer cabinets, top bunk that had to be left open when the top was down severely reducing headroom, lower bed 3" narrower and it blocked opening the cabinet when open, and lots of breakable vacuum molded trim pieces that discolored and broke. Oh, and it was a money pit too.

The 5 cylinder versions were first generation EVs, kinda like the first generation Vanagon was air cooled. Same problem, the engineers at VW couldn't get their engine act together in time for the new model roll out.

Other than that, it's a fine rig!

Stuart '85 Westy

I am considering getting a 1995 Eurovan with a 5-speed manual gearbox. What is the list consensus on that combination?

Also, if you happen to have one you'd consider selling, pmail me.

Chris.
