In addition to what Roger said...the watchword is clean clean clean,
no matter how much of a nuisance it is.  Hydraulic systems do *not*
like little bits of grit or lint or anything else inside.  Brake
cleaner spray can be a good friend here, also immediately taping off
all openings into the system.
