I went through this with replacing the horn ring. Got the official part, put it in, but could not get the steering wheel to seat. Worked and worked and worked on it. David Beierl spent a lot of time with me trying to figure it out long distance. Turned out the new ring had a new little shoulder that the old one didn't. So it prevented the wheel from seating. The vendor was glad to learn of this. My fix for the problem was to remove the metal part from the plastic part of the new ring, then put it into the old ring. Worked perfect. But be aware - as our vans get older, more and more of this kind of thing is likely to crop up.
