The twin pipe not only helps flow due to its size. The two smaller pipes help maintain velocity and scavenger action. If you look close the dual outlet manifold and twin downpipe is really a 4 into 2 into 1 design just like some header exhausts.

So let's talk about what's working for headers on inline conversions.

ABA. x-flow head. 50 degree.

Stock twin downpipe manifold doesn't foul motor mount but it's uncomfortably close. So besides Don Hanson (who's sent me a ton of pictures), who's had some success in building an exhaust system that didn't require frequent crack repair?

Suggestion has been made that there might be a suitable single pipe manifold. Fox? By my calc's we need about a 2.25" dia pipe to equal the flow of the twin.

Muffler is going to be mounted as diesel-vanagon.

Pointer toward pictures would be outstanding!

Alistair, do you have pics of Frank G's system?

As always,

Thanks in advance

Jim
