You need to be careful with any ECU reprogramming device because some of these devices let you reprogram the injection & ignition timing.

The aftermarket manufacturers claim "to improve the performance of your ....", but you don't have access to the data Bosch used to write the original program.

One exception would be an engine transplant where your new Subaru engine is now hauling around far more weight than the Bosch program was written for. For example, you may do a lot of good with minor changes in ignition timing.

It is an aftermarket device that allows reprogramming of certain ECUs and monitoring/logging of engine operating parameters, over an OBDII port.

The "reflasher" part refers to uploading a new program into the ECU.
