Subject: westy gas tank removal and fuel sender???
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1

My Westy Rehab begins with gas tank removal. I purchased this Van a couple of months ago. It started fine but when I went to drive home from Wilmington to Philly - no deal. Back fire....shudder..... miss.....oil alarm. Pull over --- triple A.

So I find out it had been sitting for years. I look at bottom of tank and see the tell tale gas spots. No question....pull the tank. It is out. I did this once before and don't remember it being so difficult to get the breather tubes off top before full drop. They are off. Any tricks for getting them back on during installation. I forget.

Main question is this, While it is off should I order a new fuel level sending unit? There did not seem to be its o-ring gasket in the new hose kit I got with the new tank, so I may need both parts. Or do I just clean it all up and throw it back together and get on with it. .

Oh - I was right to pull tank. Gas was orange and tank was rust bucket.
