Sorry, I meant the ECU relay diode shown in the 88/89 Bentley diagram is not being used as for suppression. The most common FP and ECU relays are the Type 53 relays and these have a suppression resistor across the coil pins. Perhaps that is what you saw on the diagram on the relay itself?
