What about replacing the stupid buzzer with a relay? I assume the switch is up to powering a relay.

I'd suggest a relay if you do that. I've been inside that switch and it's definitely not made for carrying any real load. It's a pretty nasty kluge, in fact. I don't think I'd trust it even with an amp. The rest of the ignition switch may be too light, but it's well designed.
