June 15-16 is the next Empire State VW camping club camping trip to Glimmerglass state park just north of Cooperstown, NY

Just an friendly reminder to those still on the fence for camping june 15-16 at Glimmerglass state park North of Cooperstown, NY http://nysparks.com/parks/28/details.aspx That there are only (4) campsites left in the loops near where the VWs are camping.

There is talk of a VW trip to Howe Caverns on Saturday the 16th http://howecaverns.com/

Also there's a traffic road alert from the park (if approaching from Rt20 from the north, drive past the Road Closed signs to the park)

Please Note: County Route 31 is currently CLOSED between the park and Cooperstown.

If travelling to Glimmerglass from the South, please follow the detour signs around the West side of Otsego Lake on Route 80. Also note, there is a Road Closed sign at the intersection of Route 20 and County Route 31. This is for "through" traffic only; local traffic including access to Glimmerglass is available via this route.

Glimmerglass State Park, located eight miles outside the village of Cooperstown, overlooks Otsego Lake, the "Glimmerglass" of James Fenimore Cooper's Leatherstocking Tales. The rolling, partially-wooded terrain is host to a wide variety of wildlife. An uphill trail through the forest affords a spectacular view of Otsego Lake; the Beaver Pond and Woodland trails are picturesque and of interest for the variety of wildflowers, shrubs, ferns and mosses. The Hyde Hall Mansion, Covered Bridge, and a self-guided Beaver Pond Nature Trail are within park boundaries and open to visitors
