I've never had a problem doing small stuff like changing oil in a FLAPS parking lot.

Obviously it helps if you don't make a mess.

For larger projects (like my bostig install) I found a laid back mechanic and talked with him about renting space at his shop for project time.

It was immensely helpful b/c his shop has a lift, he was interested in the install and helped where I had questions, and he made some cash from it.

Hope this helps.

Cheers, Harry

I am possibly making a move in the next 60 days to the Virginia Beach area. For the first time in my life I will be living in an apartment. I have 1) the Vanagon 2) company car 3) a motorcycle. I am looking at both apartments and rental houses, but I honestly do NOT want yard work, and apartment complexes with swimming pools and fitness centers look quite appealing. BUT WHERE DO I WORK ON MY VANAGON???? Even changing the oil-I know most apartments frown on working on cars in the parking lot. One ad I looked at said the complex featured a "car care center" but I don't know what that means-a place to work on your car or a bunch of guys who will detail it for $99,99. I also see an engine conversion in my future-IF I keep the Vanagon, and my living quarters will factor heavily into that decision. So, how about it you Vanagon owning apartment dwellers, how do you do it? > > > > > Jeff Stewart >
