This is not a fair comparison, as I'm a home dweller, but since my new ride
is parked on a sloped driveway, I can't safely lift the van up, to pull a
wheel etc. This has made me aware that planning ahead is crucial and is
prompting me to plan ahead better.
You may already be the type that plans ahead, but if not, with that in
mind, a few suggestions:
- determine parts needed, think about what could go wrong and what would be
needed. (e.g. stuck fastener) Order parts ahead of time.
- stock pile things like fasteners etc. Making runs to FLAPS for these
things takes time.
- start soaking things like bleeder screws with penetrating fluid now.
- assuming less storage space, practice "tough love" on what tools, parts,
etc. you really need. I must have 20 spray cans of various paints, lubes
etc.
You may find there are "u-rent" type spaces available for hourly/daily
rent. This might be an option.
