Old wives tale. My trim has been removed over 10 years ago and I have NEVER seen a problem related to these trims pieces being removed. Now, that's about the 100th time I've posted this same message ! So..........do whatever suits you but I like the looks of no ugly chromed trim there staring at me ! Pure black rubber is awesome especially when dressed with some Krown rustproofing oil which makes it shine like a ...............(install your own words here) !
