Sure, I know why. The same foil blank was designed as able to be used for single oil pressure switch models and dual oil switch dynamic models. When the final assembly of the foil is done, only single oil pressure switch models get that resistor. The resistor connects the single oil switch wire of the 14 pin connector directly to the oil warning led. On dynamic dual clusters the 2 switch wires of the 14 pin go to the dynamic oil pressure board connector and the output of that board goes to the oil pressure warning led. The resistor bypasses that circuit board connector for single oil switch vans.

In the US only 86+ with 2.1 got the dual oil switches.
