Scott - I measured the protrusion of the flue, then made a guess about where in the bowl the cut should be made to fit snugly over it. A little grinding and sanding was necessary to get it just right. I wanted the flat end of the bowl to lay directly over the flue so tightening the bolt would not unduly flex either surface.
