Exactly. There is a center screw to hold it to the body but a circle of projections on the back bite into the body as it is tightened down, so more contact area than just the screw. Common to some other VWs. I have changed out some very ugly ones on Vanagons with nice ones I have pulled from junked VWs. The other VWs also suffer from ugly ones but I find some are still nice enough to grab for spares. It looks like VW still sells them. 321 971 519A about $10 some parts lists claim it is superceded by 171 971 519A I have not checked how similar they are or are not. Mark
