Subject: recommendations for splicing large gauge wire
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1

Hi,

I have an 85 westy that was an auto converted to a manual. There is a large-ish gauge wire (red with black stripe) that runs from the ignition switch down to the switch in the auto shift box that prevents you from engaging the starter when the car is not in park or neutral. Having removed the shift box, I need the two ends of this wire to be connected to each other directly. Just to get things working, make sure it started, etc, I used one of those cone-shaped screw-on things. It starts, good, so now I want that wire connected permanently.

What's a reliable way to do this? I don't want to ever have to go back and mess with this again, nor do I want to have to remember "Oh, I should check that place where I connected that wire by tangling the ends and wrapping in bubble gum" the next time I get into a no-start situation.

Thanks!

mike
