Subject: Anyone familiar with the Behr AC system or auto AC in general?

I'm thinking ahead on converting my diesel westy to add air conditioning after I get the TD engine that came out of my Jetta installed. Once it's running, plumbed to the intercooler and gauged-up, I will be adding the underdash Behr AC system, putting in a condenser in front of the radiator, and getting a set of hoses made.

What should I consider replaceable parts in this system? I know the drier has to be replaced. Anything else?

What about the radiator and fan? It's an 83 diesel, and that radiator and fan setup is pretty good, but I have a 90 radiator and fan setup that I could use. I believe the difference is that the later models have a three-speed fan while mine has a two-speed fan. The Behr was designed for the two-speed setup, I'm pretty sure. Would there be any real advantage to going to the three-speed setup?

And, finally, the condenser. I have a stock VW factory condenser and the Behr condenser. I have heard that the Behr unit is superior to the VW one. Any opinions?

Thanks,

Jim
