You will probably need to pull the hose and have the flexible section replaced, which is what the garage volunteered to do. A repair shop that works on high pressure hoses can do the job in less than 30 minutes.

I have an '87 Vanagon GL. I took it to the local Goodyear service to have the air conditioning worked on and they said they found a bad fitting and replaced it but when they charged it up, they heard a hissing and identified it as coming from the line running from the compressor to the radiator - the line closest to the center of the vehicle of the two that run to the front on the driver's side. They showed me the rupture and we marked it. They said it was too much for them and to take it to a VW dealer.

I made an appointment with MAG in Columbus (I am in Lima, Ohio). They told me that they cannot get the hose from VW any longer. They said they could keep it for a few weeks and have someone manufacture a replacement.

I was wondering if anyone here might know where I could get one.

Thanks,
