You know the saying about hind sight......well, im my excitement to install the new gas tank and get Gertie back on the road I didn't even think about the fuel pump or filter and you guessed it that was the problem.

My Fuel Pump was full of junk (thanks Neil) - I knocked a bunch of crud out of it - rust chunks, some boogery looking stuff, and a glob of sand, rust, and fibers all stuck together.

Then I connected the pump to the battery and switched the wires opposite (carefully) and back flushed the filter with some gas. The screen in there is pretty clean looking now. Runs like a top and lots of power.

Installed a new filter too.

Now in the process I broke the plastic outlet "nipple" off of my spare fuel pump - any ideas on how I might repair that?

Thanks to all who replied to my original post - I greatly appreciate your input and advice.
