How are you dealing with the refrigerant when you are removing/replacing the compressor? I know if you have a system that might have leaks or has not been used for a long time it is necessary to evacuate the system and make sure all moisture has been drawn out. Are you verifying that you have enough lubricant in the system?

It currently runs, but the compressor sounds horrible, like the bearings are shot. The air it blows out is cool, not cold. I had a spare compressor and for grins yesterday stuck it in-it sounds worse the the original (both are Sanden 508). So, I bit the bullet and ordered a new compressor and receiver/drier from Bus Depot. A buddy of mine who had a similar failure in his a/c replaced the compressor and receiver/drier and charged the a/c himself only to have the compressor fail in 2 years. He suggested I replace the parts and take it to an a/c shop and have them recharge it, which sounds like good advice. Any thoughts/ideas/suggestions? > > > > > Jeff Stewart >
