Meaning, a spike in coolant temperature to 220ºF for awhile will not mystically melt the PEX.. What will destroy PEX Tubing are UV rays.... Would require a UV protective wrapping/cover... Reading the building code specifications for PEX: even short exposure to UV Rays from sunlight on a job-site are to be avoided. Given PEX's marginal temperature rating and zero tolerance for UV rays, not a good alternative to the aging PVC of the OEM plastic pipes... Good hunting...
