My point was that the spindle should not be so worn that the bearing inner races are a loose or sloppy fit. They may spin when the wheel is unloaded but so little that you know they are spinning while traveling. Yes they are behind the thrust washer.

Dennis, do you mean with the preload on, or with the vehicle standing on its wheels? Also, isn't it hidden by the thrust washer? Or did I fall off at the last curve?
