If one has to pay people to repair their vanagon .. and it's 25 years old say .. and hasn't been rebuiltthoroughly in every last system .... that can get expensive and tiresome. They're still awesome vehicles. I am just finding many of them needing nearly 'everything' a lot lately. They WILL run a long, long time pretty much ... but man, systems like the cooling system, or the transaxle ......over the years ....those can get pretty tired. There are still a lot of vanagons that have lived 25 years and they've only been repaired when they broke.. in just that one system each time, while the other systems soldier on , and that's a horrible way to take care of a vanagon. Very typically these days .....say the trans has 189,000 miles on it and not that many gear oil changes , it's due. And so on. They are so worth taking care of. If you do the work yourself it's not even that expensive. But if paying someone, it can be like going to the dentist -- expensive and painful. lol.......read this on a Mercedes group once . "if you think going to an expensive mechanic is expensive, try a cheap one - that's really expensive !' That's a reference to work not done correctly, if you didn't catch that. Scott
