Link please, I can't find anything on this. Anyway, in Seattle vehicles over 25 years old are exempt. Are you saying EPA is going to change that? I always had to take my '84 to a test site that had a guy in a van next door who guaranteed passing. Every two years I'd go through and fail on HC, and he'd put it on his Sun tester, usually doing nothing more than maxing out the idle, and then he drove it through and it passed. Paid him $35 and he'd crank the idle back down. Hmmm, I wonder how much he paid the tester. Stuart '85 Westy--now exempt, and in three years I can get a free collector vehicle plate (or nearly free, one time $45 fee)!! -----Original Message----- From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com] On Behalf Of JRodgers Sent: Thursday, June 28, 2012 8:10 AM To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: EPA and Vanagon Emissions Did anyone note the announcement on Tuesday that the EPA won it's last case which will now allow them to absolutely dictate what happens with our beloved Vanagons - by way of emission control? It's gonna be interesting times ahead. John |
