If you look at the ETKA the hose that connects the injector rails and other stuff on the engine is not the same as what is often supplied on rolls. You have to order six pieces. This hose does not produce the gummy stuff. That gummy stuff appears to be oils or whatever within the outer jacket. It ozzes out from heat, jacket or not. The sleeve may also be there for temperature (heat) rejection more than abrasion. Do not go back to the earlier style braided hose. As it is weak. Also be aware when getting hose of the production date. I just recently received some hose that was dated 2002. As for clamps the 7mm almost doesn't need clamps. For connections that should last the life of the hose I like the crimp type. For the others I use the smooth bore stainless.

Hi guys,

What is the best practice in relation to keeping or disposing of the fuel line sheathing which presumably protects the fuel line as it travels to the fuel injectors across and around the air distribution system in the engine compartment? I remember reading past posts about a weird interaction between some nylon fuel hoses and the sheathing which produces a brownish residual almost like the hose is melting or slowly disintegrating.

I replaced my fuel lines about four years ago with a good product for fuel injection but I'm looking to replace sections of hose again because I am noticing areas of this gummy phenomena. I am leaning toward replacing my hoses with the knitted / braided cloth FI hose instead of the more expensive nylon fuel injection hose and I'm thinking of completely doing away with the sheathing.

What sayeth the list?
